Role/Mission:

Coast Guard pilots fly a myriad of missions depending on the scenario and airframe. Coast Guard helicopters perform search and rescue operations, air interdiction, detection, and patrols. These rotary wing aircraft are equipped to rescue those in danger on the high seas even in the most adverse weather conditions. Like helicopters, fixed wing aircraft are used in SAR operations, air interdiction, detection, and patrols but do not have the ability to rescue people directly from the water. However, they do drop supplies and assist in searches rain or shine.
