Officer Commissioning: Candidates must commission through the United States Naval Academy, Naval ROTC, or Officer Candidates School (OCS).

The Basic School (TBS): All Marine officers attend a six-month leadership and infantry tactics course in Quantico, VA, to learn the fundamentals of leading Marines.

Naval Flight School: Conducted at NAS Pensacola and NAS Whiting Field, including Aviation Preflight Indoctrination (API), Primary Flight Training (T-6 Texan II), and Advanced Training in jets, helicopters, or tiltrotors depending on assigned platform.

Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS): Platform-specific training that prepares Marine aviators for operational duty with their designated aircraft and squadron .
